(SBU) The Ambassador met with Nicaraguan Minister of Defense
Avil Ramirez to discuss points in reftel. The Minister
predicted that, after consultations with Nicaraguan Army
officials, he would have a response ready for the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs next week. Ramirez said he did not see any
problems with the proposed language in the diplomatic note.
He also noted that Nicaraguan Ministry and Army officials had
recently visited the United Nations to discuss participation
in peace keeping missions outside of the scope of GPOI. Post
will report further updates.
