(C) POLOFF relayed reftel offer of USG logistical assistance
for Spanish representatives to the July 20 Iraq Compact
meeting to MFA acting Subdirector General for the Middle East
Teresa Lizaranzu. Lizaranzu said that Spain will be
represented at the Iraq Compact meeting by representatives of
the Spanish Embassy in Baghdad and that Spain would not/not
be sending anyone from Madrid to participate in the meeting,
therefore USG logistal assistance is not required. Lizaranzu
said she expected Spanish Ambassador to Iraq Ignacio Ruperez
Rubio to attend the event.
