(C/NF) On June 26, MFA Deputy DG for International Security
Affairs Manuel Acerete reported to POLOFF that the GOS had
reviewed the candidacy of Ambassador Litt for the NATO SCR in
Afghanistan in the context of the demarche presented on June
19. As reported in ref A, Acerete said in an initial
conversation on June 19 that the idea of having three senior
ISAF officials from the US concerned the GOS. On June 26,
however, he contacted POLOFF to report that while the
decision belongs to the NATO SYG, the GOS now takes a
favorable view of Amb Litt's candidacy.
