On June 16, MFA Deputy Director for Security and Disarmament
Pedro Sousa Abreu responded to reftel demarche (delivered May
24) saying he had only just learned that the GOP will be
unable to send anyone from either the Foreign Ministry or the
Defense Ministry to the meeting in Warsaw. The Portuguese
Charge d' Affaires in Warsaw, Manuela Teixeira Pinto, will
represent the GOP, perhaps accompanied by the Defense
Attache, Commander Antonio Mendes Calado. Sousa Abreu added
that the GOP will no longer participate in the panel
discussion, &Building PSI Nations Capacity8, as scheduled.
