1. (C) On 3/21 Poloff discussed UNSC re-hatting of the Sudan
PKO with Foreign Ministry Director of Multilateral Affairs
Julio Garro and Deputy Director of UN Affairs Miguel Barreto.
Poloff emphasized the USG view that the African Union's
request for re-hatting was definitive and without
preconditions. Garro said that Barreto would respond after
confirming Peru's position.
2. (C) Baretto told Poloff on 3/27 that Peru's position
closely mirrored the U.S. position on re-hatting.
