1. (U) Ambassador Eastham met with Deputy Minister of Foreign
Affairs Marjorie Ngauje on May 12 to discuss reftel talking
points. Ambassador Eastham and Ngauje discussed the conflict
in Sudan, as well as the recently signed Darfur Peace
Agreement, and the need for the African Union to ask for
assistance in Darfur. Ngauje thanked the ambassador and
promised to take our views into consideration before Monday's
AU Peace and Security Council meeting.
