1. (SBU) American citizen James Brazel and Briton Martin
Maddieson were released to the Bayelsa State Government on
November 7. Upon release they were taken to the Bayelsa
Capital, Yenagoa. Tim Branch of Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS)
advised RSO on November 7 the hostages are traveling today to
Lagos from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State via a chartered Arik Air
helicopter. Brazel and Maddieson will arrive at Arik's
domestic Lagos terminal around 4 PM. They will receive a
medical examination and stay the night in Lagos. They will
be met by Consulate staff as well as PGS officials. Legatt
will debrief Brazel before he departs Lagos. PGS will
arrange for both Brazel and Maddieson's return to the US and
UK, respectively. We will provide flight information once it
becomes known.
