On 16 August, Economic Officer Steven Conlon and FSN Economic Specialist Abdullah Mejalli conducted a pre-license check visit of Al-Muzayan International Company, Telephone: (965) 240-2444/240-2666, and met with the owner of the company, Mr. Abdullah Hamad Al-Muzayan. ¶2. The Al-Muzayan family has specialized in hunting and fishing equipment and supplies for more than 80 years. This specific company, which specializes in hunting equipment, was established in 1989 when the father's company was divided among three sons. The company has three employees. Abdullah Hamad Al-Muzayan is manager and sole proprietor. Typical customers are middle-class Kuwaiti citizens who are weekend sportsmen. The company is located in a secure commercial area on the Arabian Gulf Road opposite the Seif Palace (office of the Amir of Kuwait),adjacent to the Central Bank of Kuwait. The store does not currently have an installed security system. Weapons and ammunition are kept in locked cabinets. ¶3. The company has an established, legitimate customer base, and it does keep proper, detailed records of its sales and customers, including contact information. The owner/manager and employees understand the restrictions on United States Munitions List articles. The company has the proper firearms license and import permit for the items listed on the license application.
