1 (C) CDA delivered ref A demarche points in advance of the
August 7 AL Ministerial to Shaykh Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director of
the Foreign Minister's office. Shaykh Ahmad said the GOK
agreed with the approach requested in the demarche and would
be working in Beirut for serious AL action that would shore
up the government of Lebanon and support action being taken
in the UNSC.
2. (C) Drawing on ref B, we also urged support of rapid and
full implementation of the draft UNSC resolution. Shaykh
Ahmad asked that we pass on any reactions from other UNSC
members, hopefully in advance of the August 7 meeting in
Beirut.
