-- "When Will We Get Angry?" was Lawyer and columnist Shaykha Fawzia
Salim Al-Sabah's question that she dramatically posed in moderate
Arabic daily Al-Rai Al-Aam by repeating the line 244 times (7/24):

"When will we get angry? When will we get angry? When will we get
angry? When will we get angry? When will we get angry? When will
we get angry? When will we get angry? . . ."

-- "And Lebanon Still Burns" by Emad Al-Saif appeared in progressive
Arabic daily Al-Qabas (7/24):

"It is apparent from the international statements and maneuvers by
the ministers and representatives of western countries calling for
an immediate cease-fire that they are playing into American hands.
No matter how well the packaging is decorated with sweet words they
are in absolute compliance with the American position on the war.
America's position is clear as day light -- no cease-fire before the
Zionist military machine finishes its mission in Lebanon. The
mission is to completely annihilate Hezbollah's military
infrastructure."

-- "Time Up for Liars" Editor-in-chief of pro-government Arabic
daily Al-Seyassah Ahmed Al-Jarallah's commentary on the front page
(7/24):

"We cannot deny that we have lost many of our rights to Israel.
However, we cannot reclaim these rights by the methods employed by
Hezbollah, HAMAS and other Jihad movements. These methods
contributed to the loss of our rights in addition to preventing
Arabs from utilizing the tool of politics. The methods of Hezbollah
and HAMAS have given the whole world the impression that Israel is
defending itself."

-- In "The Gulf and the Lebanon War" Kuwait University Political
Science Professor, Dr. Shamlan Yousef Al-Issa penned (7/24):

"The war in Lebanon, no matter what the outcome, will affect the
security of the Gulf. Prior to the war, Gulf countries were
complaining of the rise in Iranian influence in the region. With
the war we have seen a rise in popular support for Iran and its
influence. Students and MPs have participated in demonstrations
hailing Hezbollah. Demonstrators attacked the Arab and Gulf regimes
for their silence in the face of Israeli aggression."
