(C) During a January 28 meeting with Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Undersecretary Khaled Al-Jarallah, the Ambassador
reiterated USG concerns over trafficking in persons (TIP) in
Kuwait. While noting that some progress has been made, he
stressed that more needs to be done. The Ambassador
cautioned that without additional concrete efforts to protect
victims of trafficking, Kuwait was in danger of remaining on
Tier Three of the State Department's annual TIP Report.
Al-Jarallah said progress would take time, but promised the
GOK was "trying very hard to solve this very sophisticated
issue."
