1. (SBU) POLOFF delivered Feburary 16 reftel demarche and
talking points to Jacques Djoli, Chief of Staff of the
Ministry of Forign Afairs. Djoli agreed that Hamas must
renounce violence and recognize the right of Israel to exist.
He expressed hope that the responsibilities of government
would result in their moderating their positions.
