1. Per refel request, Post has reviewed and grants clearance from
the standpoint of potential implications to U.S. foreign policy
concerns to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposed
project, "Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis in Rural and Urban
Dwellers in Jamaica," pending human subject approval. Post
understands research institutions involved are the Mayo Clinic
College of Medicine in Minnesota and the Tropical Medicine Research
Institute in Jamaica.
2. Embassy understands that no further assistance or resources in
support of this project are required. Embassy contact is Kara V.
French, Political Officer, telephone 876-935-6079 or fax
876-929-6029.
3. Post requests that, if practicable, investigator contact Ms.
French to schedule briefing on project for informational purposes,
as results may relate to technical programs here. Embassy also
requests copy of results from NIH for internal informational
purposes, if possible.
