The Government of National Unity (GNU) issued Diplomatic Note Number 2 in response to ref A, designating the Office of the Commissioner for Refugees in the Ministry of Interior as the Government of National Unity's refugee returns approving authority and signatory for refugee tripartite agreements. ¶2. The diplomatic note reads as follows: (Begin text) Reference to the letter submitted by the U.S.A. Embassy in Khartoum to the Department of American Affairs, under the title: "Tripartite Agreements Needed to Begin Organized Refugees Repatriations", in which the Embassy urged the GNU and GOSS not to delay any further in deciding the authorized entity to sign the tripartite agreements on behalf of the Government of the Sudan. The Ministry wishes to express their sincere appreciation and thanks for the genuine concern and support shown by the Government of the U.S.A. to the matter of repatriation and reintegration of the Southern Sudanese Refugees in Eastern, Central and North Africa. The Ministry has the honour to inform that the signatory authority has now been decided to be the Office of the Commissioner for Refugees at the Ministry of Interior. The Ministry has also conveyed the same to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Sudan to take note and inform its Headquarters in Geneva to act accordingly.
