MEDINA: LOVE ALLAH AND FEAR HIS PUNISHMENT FROM MECCA: NEW DAWN FOR ARAB/ISLAMIC NATION = STRENGTH IS THE ANSWER BIRTH OF THE CULTURE OF POWER ¶1. The sermon at the Grand Mosque in Mecca on September 1 was delivered by Dr. Salih bin-Abdallah bin-Humayd, the Chairman of the Shura Council, which advises the King. The main idea in the sermon was that of a "new dawn" for the Arab and Islamic nation. He remarked that the results of the recent conflict in Lebanon was the "psychological shift from the culture of defeat and surrender and the complex of weakness to strong confrontation of the plans of hegemony and arrogance." In his opinion, the lesson to be learned is that "the calls for peace and acceptance of peace do not conflict with power and readiness...The strong faithful is more favored by God than the weak faithful." ISRAEL/PALESTINE, "THE GREAT ISLAMIC CAUSE" ¶2. The imam explained that the new situation confirms "the neutrality of weapons and technologies...power that is based on injustice and aggression is bound to be defeated, no matter how long it takes." He went on to say that the "great Islamic cause, the issue of Palestine and Jerusalem, may take a long time, but here are the generations inheriting their right, patience, and resolution. The mere lapse of time and enemy plans have not made them forget their right or weaken their hold to their cause...the rightful owners will not forget their rights." In fact, the imam mentioned that "the lapse of time is not in favor of the enemies, opponents, oppressors, and usurpers" (Read USA and Israel). DENEGRATION OF THE UN AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ¶3. The imam wondered whether the Roadmap to Peace, and the agreements in Madrid and other places were "mere slogans, which the opponent used to cover his unfair ambitions." He declared that the decision of the (Islamic) nation "is stronger than any unfair UN resolution because it is just." The imam explained that "UN resolutions stem from the balance of powers, and when the (Islamic) nation is strong through its unity, will, preparation, planning, and, above all, strong faith and right, this balance is reversed and the scale is tipped in favor of right and justice." The imam concluded this section of his sermon by explaining that the Islamic nation "depends on its unity, sons, and wise policy and not on UN organizations and resolutions only." VIOLENCE AND TERRORISM BLAMED ON MAJOR POWERS WHOSE ERRONEOUS VIEWS OF ISLAM "GIVE EXPLOSIVES TO TERRORISTS" ¶4. The use of the terms 'terrorism,' 'fascism,' and 'fundamentalism' with Islam caused the imam great offense because they are allegedly unjust and distort Islam. In fact, the imam placed the blame for violence and terrorism on the "policies of major powers that hold an erroneous view of Islam, whether wittingly or unwittingly, and design erroneous plans and programs leading to the intensification of hatred and injustice and the increase of violence. In fact, they are policies and programs that give explosives to extremists and terrorists." The imam asked if a person who carries out an act of terrorism or violence in the name of his religion is called a "fascist," "how about the occupier Zionists and the death and destruction they commit, as well as the corruption and arrests of the small and big...how about the open and secret prisons and detention camps in different parts of the world...what about the situation of our brethren in Iraq and Afghanistan?" ONE PURPOSE = LIBERATION OF THE LAND ¶5. The imam called for all Muslims and Arabs to be united in the fulfillment of one aim, which is "the liberation of the land, the removal of the occupation, the protection of the land, and the preservation of people's lives and property, as well as the nation's resources and wealth and aspirations for its might and power and the elevation of its religion." The imam concluded his sermon by praying and asking God for a "new dawn, which is a thorn in the throat of the arrogant, JEDDAH 00000597 002 OF 002 tyrannical, oppressive, bloodthirsty, and violators of rights." He emphasized love of Allah and fear of His punishment. He concluded, as usual, by praying for Allah to support Islam and Muslims and humble non-belief and unbelievers. ¶7.
