PolOff delivered talking points per reftel to Deputy Chief of
the Department for Asia and Africa Affairs at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs July 12. The MFA official said Tajikistan
wanted to see a peaceful resolution to this problem through
diplomatic means. Although Tajikistan does not have interests
in North Korea, it did not want to see the problem escalated to
a military conflict and recognized that it is in the
international community's best interest to stave off future
missile launches. The Tajik government does not have an
official stance on the issue, but will inform the Embassy if it
issues an official statement.
