(SBU) Embassy contacted Dr. Hamidur Rashid, Director, United Nations Wing, Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an update on BDG's position on the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Expression. Dr. Rashid was unaware of BDG's position on the convention and directed embassy to other MFA offices. ¶2. (SBU) Embassy has seen no mention of the UNESCO Cultural Affairs convention in the media or press. It is unlikely that the BDG would quickly move to ratify this convention before elections slated for January 2007. CHAMMAS
