(C) On October 8, Ambassador conveyed to Foreign Secretary
Hemayetuddin ref a points regarding a North Korean nuclear
test, stressing the importance of all states using their
influence to prevent such a test. Ambassador also asked, per
ref b, whether MFA had raised the issue yet with the DPRK
ambassador. Hemayetuddin replied that he and Foreign
Minister Khan had met earlier in the day with the North
Korean to affirm their strong opposition to a test. He added
that the South Korean ambassador had also asked MFA to
convoke the North Korean ambassador on this issue.
