(U) Poloff delivered reftel demarches concerning candidates
for the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) to Mawazo Kaducha,
Deputy Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs'
Multilateral Division, on April 20. Kaducha said that
despite initial interest in serving, the Government of
Tanzania (GOT) had decided not to run for a seat on the HRC.
In response to Poloff's inquiry regarding the method of
selecting a slate of candidates for the HRC, Kaducha said he
was not sure of the Africa Group's method of planning.
