(U) Tanzania "has no problem" with Michael Matheson's bid
for re-election to the International Law Commission, Sulle
Sella, Acting Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs'
Multilateral Department, told Poloff September 14. Sella
took the opportunity to reiterate the Government of
Tanzania's request for USG support of Tanzanian candidate
Mohammed Yussuf for re-election to the International Joint
Inspection Unit (reftels B-E). Poloff replied that the USG
generally does not announce its support in advance but
assured Sella that Mr. Yussuf's candidacy had been
communicated to Washington and New York.
