(C) On May 24, DCM made Ref A and B demarches to Ambassador
Mankeur Ndiaye, the Director of Cabinet at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. Ndiaye said that the Non-Aligned Movement
(NAM) is divided over a declaration in support of Iran (Ref
B). He did not react to the UN reform demarche (Ref A);
however, Senegal has traditionally abided by the African
Union consensus on UN reform. Ndiaye said that Minister of
Commerce Mamadou Diop Decroix will represent Senegal at the
NAM Ministerial in Kuala Lumpur. DCM forwarded copies of the
two demarches to the Minister, and will follow up before his
departure.
