(SBU) Poloff demarched Sri Lanka Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Deputy Director of United Nations and Multilateral Affair
Sumedha Ekanayake April 25 on the creation of a new
distinctive emblem (the red crystal) for the International
Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement. Sumedha assured poloff that
Sri Lanka's no-show at an April 12 Ambassadors' meeting in
Geneva to discuss the adoption of the protocol had been due
only to the late hour of the vote, and that they intended to
vote yes at the next meeting.
