1. (SBU) On 24 January 2006 between 2000-2100 hrs, five small
explosions occurred in Colombo and the surrounding
communities. No injuries were reported, and there was only
minor damage to property. The Sri Lankan police are in the
process of conducting investigations. No party has claimed
responsibility for the attacks. It was business as usual in
Colombo and the surrounding suburbs the morning of Jan. 25,
2006.
2. (SBU) The mission is taking these attacks seriously
although they seemed designed to invite fear rather then
cause damage or injury and will continue to closely monitor
the security situation.
