(U) This cable is an action request. Please see paragraph ¶2. ¶2. (U) Embassy Cairo is preparing for the upcoming World Economic Forum on the Middle East, to be held in Sharm El Sheikh May 20-22, 2006. Given the heavy demand for suitable hotel space in Sharm during the summit as well as other logistical support requirements, Post urges all potential participants from all agencies to declare their intentions to travel now and begin consultations with the appropriate coordinating offices. ¶3. (U) The summit will provide an excellent forum for Washington policymakers to confer with their counterparts from the region and the world, and Embassy Cairo encourages the broadest possible participation. The State Department Middle East Partnership Initiative office (NEA/PI) will be coordinating Washington preparations. ¶4.
