(C) I delivered reftel demarche to Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana on June 1. I emphasized to Taiana that if Iran was prepared to suspend all enrichment and reprocessing activities and resume cooperation with the IAEA, the U.S. would become a full party to the EU-3 negotiations with Iran. I asked for the GoA's support, both publicly and at the UNSC. ¶2. (C) Taiana responded that the U.S. action was a "positive development" and he praised the U.S. for taking such a step. He added that while Argentina had little influence with Iran, it would be supportive of U.S. and EU efforts, particularly at the UNSC. GUTIERREZ
