(C) Hungary "supports the EU Arms Export Regime and does not
want to see it linked to any country" according to an embassy
contact. MFA Security Policy and Non-Proliferation Department
Deputy Vilmos Hamikus told poloff December 5 that Hungary
"has no spoken policy on the China arms embargo" and will not
respond to the issue at GAERC "even if France raises it."
The GOH does not expect this to happen, and Hamikus said that
if France raises the point in the GAERC meeting, "the French
will be isolated." According to Hamikus, FM Goncz will not
take the floor to discuss this issue, and the GOH would "not
support it."
