According to Barbados daily "The Nation" on 04/06/2006, members of the Royal Barbados Police Force's (RBPF) explosive countermeasures unit responded to a suspicious device discovered in a Barbados residential neighborhood. These RBPF officers received and completed DS/ATA sponsored Explosive Incident Countermeasure training course (ATA-5364) in December ¶2005. ¶2. A resident of the Breedy's Land neighborhood, located near the airport, notified police after a resident found a suspected explosive device lying next to an open garage door with a note inscribed "Open me and you will see". ¶3. The device was comprised of two soft drink bottles wired to a cellular telephone. ¶4. After evacuating the area, the RBPF called in Sgt. David Springer, recent graduate of the DS/ATA explosive countermeasures course. ¶5. Utilizing the bomb suit and x-ray equipment recently provided to the RBPF by the DS/ATA, Sgt. Springer determined the device to be a hoax. ¶6. Residents were quoted in the newspaper as describing the incident as extremely scary in nature as they observed police franticly alerting residence to leave there homes for their safety. ¶7.
