(U) Per reftel, poloff delivered points on UN Human Rights Council and message from Secretary Rice for RTG Foreign Minister Kanthati to RTG Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of International Organizations Social Division Director Dusit Manapan on April 12. ¶2. (SBU) Director Dusit that he would pass the message to the Foreign Minister's office. He told poloff that Thailand supports the various UN resolutions on human rights and strives to comply with their measures in its policies. Dusit added that Thailand shares U.S. sentiments on supporting the UN's mission to promote and protect human rights worldwide. ¶3. (SBU) Dusit also told poloff that by day's end the RTG should have reached a decision on whether to formally announce its candidacy for membership in the UN Human Rights Council and said that he would keep Embassy apprised.
