Chong welcomed the information and informed DCM that Brunei would fully implement the mandated sanctions. She noted that the Brunei Mission to the UN had reported back already on the substance of UNSCR 1718. ¶2. (C) The GoB had previously searched for NORTH Korean assets in Brunei (ref B) and found none. On Oct 17, DCM met with Hj Syaippudin, Managing Director of the largest bank in Brunei, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and until four months ago Director of the Ministry of Finance's Financial Institutions Division. Syaippudin informed DCM that his anti-money laudering and internal control unit had reviewed BIBD's client accounts and confirmed that no/no NORTH Korean assets were in his bank. SKODON
