1. (SBU) On February 6, Greek MFA NATO Division officer
Andreas Kintis briefed polmiloff on the status of Greek
efforts to work with NATO-aspirant members of the Southeast
Europe Clearinghouse (SEEC). Following up on informal
contacts from USEUCOM, Greek MFA and MOD officials reviewed
the training requirements listed for Albania, Croatia,
Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Serbia and Montenegro on
the SEEC website (www.mors.si/seec). Based on this review,
Kintis said, Greece was prepared to offer training for
Bosnia-Herzegovina armed forces personnel in "Civil-Military
Cooperation" (listed at "02-2005-BiH" on the SEEC website)
and in "Efficiency in Standard Computer Skills" (listed as
"14-2005-BiH on the SEEC website). Additionally, Greece was
prepared to offer training in "Defense Intelligence" (listed
as "SN 09-2005-BiH on the SEEC website),but first needed to
know how many personnel the Bosnians hoped to train.
2. (SBU) The training would take place at the Kilkis PfP
Training Center for Multinational Peacekeeping Operations in
Kilkis, in northern Greece. Greece was willing to consider
taking part in other multinational training for SEEC NATO
aspirant countries, Kintis said, but might not be able or
qualified to take the lead on those efforts. He confirmed
that the Greek embassy in Sarajevo would be in contact with
the Bosnia-Herzegovina military about the details of the
training offered.
