¶1. (C) Ambassador raised reftel points with Foreign Minister
Bakoyannis on July 18, reaching her just before she departed
her office to brief the Prime Minister and inner governmental
council on the just-concluded EU General Affairs and External
Relations Council (GAERC) meeting. Bakoyannis said that she
agreed with the U.S. that an Iran UNSCR had to be under
Chapter VII, as the GAERC had also specified. What will
matter to Greece, she said, will be "the context." In that
regard, she hopes the U.S. and the P5 1 will share a draft
text as soon as possible.
