(C) On the margins of a July 11 meeting between Ambassador Ries and Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyiannis (septel),Bakoyiannis conveyed to Ambassador Ries that Iranian FM Manouchehr Mottaki will attend a Socialist International Presidium on Samos island on Saturday, July 15, and that FM Mottaki will meet with Greek PM Karamanlis in Athens prior to the event. Bakoyiannis will not meet FM Mottaki, as she will be attending her son's wedding.Bakoyiannis assured Ambassador Ries that PM Karamanlis plans to reinforce the message that Iran should accept the six-nation nuclear package of incentives and penalties delivered to Iran's nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani in early June. ¶2. (C) Poloff contacted Dimitri Droutsas, advisor to George Papandreou (head of government opposition PASOK party and President of Socialist International) to confirm Papandreou's intention to deliver a similar message to the Iranian FM. Droutsas was aware of FM Mottaki's intention to attend the Socialist International event, but he had not yet been informed that FM Mottaki had confirmed.
