On May 8, POLOFF thanked MFA IO Director Peralta for
Paraguay's participation in the negotiations of the 2005
Protocols to the UN Convention for the Suppression of
Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Maritime Navigation
(SUA). In addition, POLOFF conveyed the importance of the
GOP signing and ratifying the protocols as quickly as
possible. Peralta noted that he was still awaiting a
response from the equivalent of Paraguay's Coast Guard on
this issue. He would check with them for their position and
report back to POLOFF once he had further information. Post
will follow-up with Peralta and report any substantive
response as it becomes available.
