PolOff delivered message to Terumi Matsuo, the MFA's Director
for International Organizations, October 23 and requested GOP
support for the U.S. position regarding the Mexican
declaration against U.S. legislation on border security.
Matsuo told PolOff that she would consult with the Vice
Foreign Minister, Frederico Gonzalez Franco, and her
colleagues at their OAS Mission in Washington. PolOff spoke
with Matsuo again October 24 but Matsuo was reluctant to
speak to the Paraguayan position on Mexico's declaration as
she still had not been able to review it. Matsuo indicated
that she should have a response for Post no later than
October 25.
