1. (C) Ambassador raised reftel points Nov. 8 with MFA D/US
Apakan. He stressed the importance the USG attaches to these
country resolutions and expressed the hope that Turkey could
support us. Separately, we also discussed the issue of UNGA
Third Committee country resolutions, no-action motions, and
retaliatory resolutions proposed by Belarus and Uzbekistan
Nov. 8 with Hasan Ulusoy, MFA Head of Department for COE and
Human Rights Matters. On the individual country resolutions,
on which we had provided ref b talking points to Ulusoy's
office November 3, Ulusoy recommended we follow up
individually with the country desks in the Ministry, who will
instruct the Turkish UN delegation on each of the
resolutions. He will study the thematic retaliatory
resolutions proposed by Belarus and Uzbekistan and get back
to us.
