Yavuzalp on April 17 welcomed the US responses to questions
raised by Deputy Director General for Arms Control Bulent
Meric and the other flank country representatives at the
March High Level Task Force meeting about our request for CFE
equipment entitlement transfers (ref a). According to
Yavuzalp, Turkey recognizes that the issue is time sensitive.
The GOT is "positively considering" the USG request and
expects to provide an answer soon.
