SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO EXTEND TRAINING AT JIPTC SIGNED

Per reftel instructions, Ambassador and Lieutenant General
Mohammed Majid al-Eitan, Director of Jordan's Public Security
Directorate, signed a letter of agreement on December 14 that
amends the previous agreement on use of the facility at
Muwaqqar for the Jordan International Police Training Center
(JIPTC). The amendment extends use of JIPTC to February 28,
2007. Post will pouch the original to State/INL/CIV. LTG
Eitan took the opportunity to reaffirm the strong support of
the GOJ for JIPTC, and expressed hope that the Center will
continue to function in some form after February.
