Proposed New York Peace Process Ministerial

1. (S) Ambassador spoke to King Abdullah's Office Director,
Bassem Awadallah, September 2 by phone. Awadallah said
Jordan is in complete agreement with the U.S. on the need to
stop the Arab League proposal for a Middle East peace process
ministerial in New York. He said the Royal Palace would
instruct Jordanian FM Khatib to work on those lines at the
Cairo Arab League ministerial.
Lebanon, Venezuela, and Sudan

2. (SBU) PolCouns delivered reftel demarche on Lebanon,
Venezuela and Sudan September 3 to Thamer Adwan, the new
director of Foreign Minister Khatib's private office. Adwan
had no substantive comments, and undertook to brief Khatib on
our positions.
