Jamal Shamayleh of the Foreign Ministry's International
Organizations Department on June 13 in conjunction with
Australian Ambassador to Jordan Trevor Peacock. Shamayleh
said that he understood and agreed with the position of the
U.S., Australia and New Zealand on the Draft Declaration of
the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Barring objections from
the Foreign Ministry's legal advisor and human rights
department, he will write a memo directly to the Foreign
Minister advocating GOJ support for the tripartite position
in advance of the opening session of the Human Rights Council
in Geneva on June 19.
