(SBU) Poloff delivered Ref A demarche February 15 to Jamal
Al-Shamayleh, deputy chief of the Foreign Ministry's
International Organizations Department. Shamayleh said he
would promptly inform Foreign Minister al-Khatib of the
upcoming selection of representatives to the new UN
Peacebuilding Commission's Organizational Committee.
Shamayleh, recalling A/S Silverberg's January 17 discussion
(Ref B) regarding the Peacebuilding Commission with Foreign
Ministry Secretary General Nabih Shuqom and Ambassador Abd al
Latif al Bowab from the Ministry's International
Organizations Department, was confident that Jordan would
soon announce its candidacy for the Peacebuilding
Commission's Organizational Committee.
HALE
