(SBU) Embassy Almaty is preparing to move to Astana, pending completion of the New Embassy Compound (NEC) in Kazakhstan's capital. Although the move into the NEC will not start until September 29, many sections have already relocated to temporary offices in the Embassy Branch Office in Astana. The following is the status as of September 5. -- The Ambassador moved to Astana on August 16. The DCM is also in Astana. -- The majority of the Pol-Econ section is in Astana. By mid-September, the entire Pol-Econ section will have moved. -- The PAO and IO have moved to Astana.
