1. Post received a note verbale August 21 from the Embassy
of Mozambique located in Addis Ababa indicating Mozambique's
intention to nominate Miguel Alberto Chissano for a position
on the Legal and Technical Commission of the International
Authority of Ocean Floors. Note verbale requests USG support
of the nomination.

The Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique in Addis Ababa
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States
of America and has the honour to inform that the Government
of the Republic of Mozambique has decided to present the
candidature of Mr. Miguel Alberto Chissano for election to
the Legal and Technical Commission of the International
Authority of Ocean Floors.
In this regard, the government of the Republic of Mozambique
would like to request the support of the Government of the
United States of America for this candidature.
The Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique in Addis Ababa
avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of
the United States of America the assurances of its highest
consideration.
