(U) The Adana Chapter of Turkey's Human Rights Association lead a protest at the US Consuate in Adana on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 12:15 pm. There were aproximately 40 attendees and the protest lasted twenty minutes. A representative made a statement protesting the conditions of the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay who are currently on a hunger strike. While it was not presented in their press announcement, signs displayed in the protest also criticized US policy vis-a-vie Iran. There were no arrests or injuries and the Turkish Jandarma deployed in more than sufficient numbers to contain the protesters. The Consulate's SD Team also monitored the demonstration. REID
