Nigeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Alhaji
Abubakar Tanko on August 11. (Note: Tanko is currently in
charge of the MFA, after the unexpected resignation of
Foreign Minister Okonjo-Iweala on August 3). Tanko said that
the situation in Lebanon was "very worrisome" and that
"whatever the Security Council can do, America can do to end
the conflict is welcome." He also noted that it will take
the "efforts of the great powers" to resolve the Lebanon
conflict through dialogue.
