1. (SBU) According to figures gathered by the Central Bank
of Nigeria and due to be released this week, in 2005
Nigeria's total crude oil production was 923.5 million
barrels, averaging 2.5 million barrels per day (mbd). For
the first months of 2006 production breaks down as follows:
January 2.31 mbd
February 2.28 mbd
March 2.04 mbd
April 2.09 mbd
The militant attacks in the Delta reportedly have taken
about 450 thousand barrels per day of production off line.
These figures show production down about that amount for
March and April, but it is notable that production was
already down somewhat in January and February. Current
reports are that the lost production will be back on line by
sometime in June.
