1. (U) POLOFF requested reftel information from Valerie
Meyer, Deputy Director, United Nations, Human Rights and
Commonwealth Division (UNHC),Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Trade (MFAT).


2. (SBU) Because New Zealand will hold general elections on
September 17, New Zealand will not send a high-level
representative to the UNGA and Summit. New Zealand's lead
representative will be Ambassador Rosemary Banks, NZ's
Permrep to the UN. Joan Mosely, Director of UNHC/MFAT, may
also attend.


3. (U) Meyer said that this information is also being
directly provided to USUN by NZ's UN Mission.
