Embassy Vienna received the following note verbale from MFA on December 16 notifying the USG of the GOA's declaration of legal peace, and of the promulgation of the amendment to the General Settlement Fund Law. ¶2. Begin text: Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Note Verbale: The Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America and has the honor to inform the Embassy that the Austrian Federal Government has decided on 13 December 2005 to publish a communication that by 7 December 2005 all claims pending as of 30 June 2001 in the United States against Austria or Austrian companies arising out of or related to the National Socialist era or World War II have now been dismissed. This announcement has already been published in the Federal Law Gazette (see BGBl. II Nr. 414/2005). The Ministry also wishes to inform that the most recent amendment of the Austrian General Settlement Fund Law (Entschaedigungsfondsgesetz) has been adopted by the Austrian Parliament and published in the Federal Law Gazette (see BGBl. I Nr. 142/2005). The Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the United States of America the assurances of its highest consideration. 15 December 2005 (End text.)
