detainees during an August 9 introductory call on Holy See
Deputy Foreign Minister Pietro Parolin and provided a copy of
points in ref para 4. Parolin indicated that he would review
the issue and provide a response later.
2. (C) Embassy will look for further opportunities to inform
key Vatican personnel on this issue and will report responses to
Department promptly.
