1. On 12/13 the San Pedro Sula-based liberal daily "La
Prensa" published an op-ed by Hernando Carcamo entitled
"Debt Forgiveness." "Something that our leaders should be
clear on is that if we got debt forgiveness it was to
relieve the burden of annual payments. It is necessary to
make decisions to avoid acquiring more debt because, if we
don't avoid this, in a few years we will be back where we
were."

"Let's remember that we won't miss what we never had. False
expectations shouldn't be created and we should be mindful
that only with hard work can we go forward with our lives.
That is what other countries who forgave debts did."
