1. (C) Post provides the information below in response to ref
A request for updated information on Chile-Cuba relations
during the six-month period from May to November 2005. Ref B
is Post's response to the Department's request for
information prior to May 2005.
2. (C) MFA North American Affairs Deputy Director Alex Geiger
told poloff on November 22 that the GOC had not undertaken
any Cuba-related initiatives during the last six months.
Geiger cited two reasons: one, "there is nothing serious
going on;" two, the Chilean and Cuban foreign ministries
would be holding consultations this week (November 21-25) in
Havana. Geiger observed that the Chilean team was expected
to return to Chile o/a November 25 and said he would brief us
shortly after their return.
